A provisional measure has force immediately but has to go through Congress to survive. The amendment deadline was extended to just before midnight on the 13th, so... Separately, two industry bodies have gone to the Supreme Federal Court asking for the whole thing to be struck down. No timetable...
Worth knowing what the measure actually obliges them to do, because the window isn't as generous as it sounds. MP 1.394 was signed on 25 September and bit on publication - no new bets, no new deposits, same day. Operators had to hand the banks a list of balances against each bettor's taxpayer...
Well that's a fair hit, actually.
@Kiwivin what did the bank transfer option call itself? If it's something I've not seen on a NZ-facing site before that's worth knowing, because the payment stack is usually the first place you can tell who's building for a licence and who isn't.
They're on the EOI list. But a foreign licence buys them nothing here - the Act is explicit that holding one from a recognised regulator doesn't entitle you to a New Zealand one. They apply like everyone else and they can be refused like everyone else.
Wouldn't assume the land-based history...
No. And neither is anything else - not one operator holds a DIA licence today. Anything calling itself a licensed New Zealand casino right now is lying to you. Since it trips everyone up here is the sequence:
1 May - Act came into force
8 July - minimum standards regulations took effect
17 July...
